Il Film

"Between Jean Cocteau and Guy Maddin, a masterpiece of mixed media cinema" (La Cinematheque Francaise, Paris - May 2010)

Synopsis

An attractive woman controls several characters invented for the purpose of her story:  two men, three blind people, a few male dancers, a female dancer, and another woman who is the projection of her image. The characters and situations are reduced to pure graphic and musical images organized in the dynamics of a memory or a dream begun in the moment in which the solitude of a wooden mannequin reflected on its own story guided by the memory of music.

Finally there is the dream of an encounter, a dream begun behind the curtains of a sunlit room. Everything begins from the memory of a smile, of two red lips. This is also a love story in which particular attention is paid to the images that Aldis’s memory-desire blends with those of her past, which is encased in a stripe of light of silent film, with those of her present day memory.
